And so we come to the end of issue 6! I’ll be taking a bit of a hiatus, as usual, but I’ll be back with a better website, some new art, and I’ll be organizing my resources behind the scenes to increase my workflow!

He also seems to think having a destiny is easier than creating you own purpose in life. I wonder how many people would agree or disagree with that :p

It’s kind of fun coming up with things for Galen to be doing in panels and in the background. At first I was a little terrified at the prospect of having a child character who is going to be mostly mute for a little while, because I thought I would forget to include him or have not much for him to do.

One challenge with this scene was keeping people sitting around a table visually interesting. And I also screwed up the perspective on the table but I had to get the page done and move on.

It didn’t help that manga studio, the bloated beast that it is, often crashes and now has decided to just flip off my tablet drivers randomly. But I’m getting upgrades done to my computer this week so that will hopefully stuff.

And now Terith is meddling in another person’s life.

I’ve also been planning on a much overdue update of the website. I may be moving everything to the tidesoftirnanog.com address. When I first started the comic I thought Sai’s Asylum was still going to be multi-focused, but the comic has taken up most of that. saisasylum.com will just start redirecting to tidesoftirnanog.com when the update happens, so it won’t affect your reading too much ;-p but that’s still a bit in the future.

Since they’re going to be fed food in a couple pages I was looking for the longest time for a book on cooking in the middle ages and what kind of meals would be common for the technology level in this comic. The stuff I saw didn’t seem very helpful (mostly medieval recipes converted to modern techniques) so I finally stopped being an idiot and looked for more general books that contained sections on food.

Which lead me to buying two books: A Time Traveler’s Guide to Medieval England and Daily Life in the Middle Ages. Highly recommend both of these if you need to do some fantasy world building or are just interested in the time period in general.

It is a bit odd to think I’ve been working on this comic for almost a year and only two days have actually passed in story continuity.

I may have to change the official update day to Saturday… although I’d still be late with it given it’s Sunday.
